Types of
Extended REality (XR)
Augmented REality (AR)
Adds digital elements to a live view by using the camera on a smart device. Examples of augmented reality experiences include Snapchat lenses and the game Pokemon Go.
Virtual REality (VR)
A complete immersive experience that shuts out the physical world. Using VR devices, users can be transported into a number of real-world and imagined environments.
Mixed Reality (MR)
Combines elements of both AR and VR, real-world and digital objects interact. Mixed reality technology is just now starting to take off with technology such as Microsoft’s HoloLens.
Web AR
Web AR offers the ability to utilize Augmented Reality on a corporate website without the need for users to download an app or specialized software.
Types of
Augmented Reality (AR)
Image Tracking
When an activated camera sees a certain image or visual marker, an experience is launched to create an engagement using video, 3d content, web content, animations, etc. Think of a poster, postcard, print ad or packaging. If the camera sees your unique image, anything is possible.
Facial Tracking
When the activated camera identifies a face, an experience is launched to create an engagement using graphic overlays, videos, 3d content, web content, animations, etc. Think social facial filters, dress, costumes, fashion, etc. Great for user engagement and content creation.
Location Based Tracking
When the activated camera that has given permission to location tracking is within range of a GPS location, an experience is launched with videos, 3d content, web content, animations, etc. Think about proximity based way finding, navigation or location-based digital incentives.
World Tracking
When the camera is activated, it scans the room and begins recognizing objects and spatial awareness. Add 2d, 3d, or video objects to certain planes or identifiers in the world. Think of furnitures stores that allows you to place furniture in your home.
