Hi! It’s December, and we’re about to get (our Christmas trees) lit.

Grab your favorite seasonal beverage of choice, and let’s raise a glass to the month that’s just passed!

One birthday, one anniversary, and one reason we’re EXTRA excited about December 2020.

Fun fact: Sara (one of our ever-so-talented designers) celebrates her birthday on Thanksgiving! This year, she gave herself the gift of an epic staycation, which she’s been enjoying in the cozy company of her husband and their pups.

Also in November, our resident word nerd Ashley celebrated her fourth year of copywriting at the Collective!

Coming up in December: Client Success Manager Niki and her husband will be welcoming their sweet little boy into the world! Niki’s done a beautiful job setting our team up for her maternity leave, and we’ll miss her like crazy until she’s back in March.

This is our version of hanging our high-school interns’ projects on our fridge.

With two weeks to go in our Fall internship program, our East High School student interns are putting all the finishing touches on their design projects (print collateral for Family Promise, a local nonprofit) and getting ready for their final client presentation!

In addition to designing, our student interns have been STOKED to learn animation—starting small by animating a logo or object of their choice. Not only has this project given them experience with a new program in the Adobe suite, it’s also introduced them to a brand-new process.

To round out the semester, each student will be sharing a final presentation of all the pieces they’ve created with all the WEC staff—and we can’t wait to celebrate what they’ve created during their time with us!

Just some casual magazine farming, NBD.

This magnificent beast is the Rapid Till, made just up the street in Torrington by the good folks at Schlagel Manufacturing. (This digital version we crafted up for Schlagel’s latest print ad is just slightly smaller than the real deal.)

By scanning the ad’s QR code, you can bring a tiny version of the Rapid Till to life—complete with on-screen options to start it up and even do some tilling, while you’re at it. If you can’t tell, we’ve been having a blast exploring new ways to play with AR (augmented reality) this year… and you’ll be seeing more of it sooner than later!

Core Values

If we’ve learned ANYthing from this weird & wild year, it’s how to be adaptable, stay flexible, and get creative in new ways—so here we are, adapting to shooting video with 75% of our team participating virtually.

Thanks for catching up with us!
We’re so happy you’re part of the Collective.

If you’re not already following us on social, come say hi!
